Studies
are brief discussions of particular styles and points of technique in
the world of painting. These discussions will help you to interpret
paintings and some of the interpretations of paintings you will come
across in your research.
Sketches are the short papers you will write. These are preliminary drafts of what will become pieces of your final term paper -- the Masterpiece of your semester in English 101. The Masterpiece is the final term paper. It will be the consolidation of everything you have learned about the craft of research and composition and everything you have learned about a given style or period in the history of painting. |
